BASSJACKERS AND MOTI UNITE TO BRING THE FUN OF THE FAIR ON ‘HELTER SKELTER’ – OUT VIA SMASH THE HOUSE!

By Alex Cristian – May 12, 2021 0 5

Commencing with pummelling, militant-style beats that are enforced with strength and add a boisterous energy to a big-room build-up before a tinkering, raw vocal evokes the sing-song elements of the circus, complete with “Candy floss clowns” and a “King of the fairground” that when studded with an electro melody that spins up the Richter scale at dizzying heights, ‘Helter Skelter’ brings the energy and fizzing spectacle of the fairground right into your speakers.  Moti continues to elevate his sound with releases on Afrojack’s Wall and Spinnin’ and joining forces with Bassjackers creates a forcefield that blasts with vigour and energy. A name synonymous with Smash The House and one of the leading acts in Electronic music today, Dutch duo Bassjackers return to the famed imprint and bring along Moti for all the fun of the fair on ‘Helter Skelter’.  Giving you the thrill of the waltzers, “all the way up and all the way down” crescendos as the vocal line fluctuates and the synthline nosedives, the melody instantly skyrockets into something unforgettable as ‘Helter Skelter’ embeds itself into your psyche…

AUDIEN BUILDS ON MOMENTUM WITH BRAND-NEW SINGLE ON ARMADA MUSIC: ‘LEARN TO LOVE AGAIN’!

By Alex Cristian – May 12, 2021 2 0

Musically, I tried a lot of new and different things on this one, but I kept the signature sound that I’ve been honing over the years. Audien: “This one is really special to me, as the vocals and lyrics resonate with parts of my own life. Decked out with empowering lyrics, honeyed vocals and the tantalizing melodies that typify every mind-blowing Audien creation, this gorgeous crossover single signals a chance to start anew and aim for a break in the clouds, all while wrapped in the pure instrumental bliss of Audien’s trademark sound. Considered a staple in the progressive house genre, he garnered the support of industry veterans like Tiësto, Above & Beyond and Armin van Buuren through an array of quality productions, including his recent Billboard Dance Radio #1-charting collab with ARTY and Ellee Duke called ‘Craving’, collaborations with the likes of Lady Antebellum, MAX and Echosmith, and official remixes for Michael Jackson, Coldplay and Halsey. Expect something really pretty and melodic with a whole lot of personality.” Known for his production prowess and unique propensity for uplifting melodies, Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter Audien has established himself as a fixture in the dance community. In 2014, Audien released his Grammy-nominated remix of Bastille’s ‘Pompeii’, which went on to become the most played track at Electric Daisy Carnival and Coachella, and one of the five most played tracks at Tomorrowland. Follow us on socials Not even six months after hitting #1 in Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay Chart alongside ARTY and Ellee Duke with ‘Craving’, exclusive Armada Music signee Audien is back releasing another straight-fire single with similar intentions. The Grammy-nominated DJ and producer evidently knows what constitutes a record of pure class, and it’s all coming to fruition in this gorgeous new track of his: ‘Learn To Love Again’. An anthem to conquering heartbreak, ‘Learn To Love Again’ is a song of personal relevance to the American DJ and producer.

Argy returns with ‘Ketuvim’ & announced new LP on Renaissance!

By Alex Cristian – May 11, 2021 2 0

It reminds you of a time before pigeon-holing and genres, when DJ sets went across the board blending everything from techno, trance, house or electro. Breaking an eighteen-month release sabbatical, Argy returns with new single ‘Ketuvim on Renaissance out on 30 April and the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album, ‘The Interior Journey’, released on 28 May. “I called the album ‘The Interior Journey’ because it was created during a self-transformation; it’s a product of a personal renaissance and day one of a brand new chapter, a new artist. II was fortunate enough to be in Ibiza where I spent almost all of lockdown and, for the first time, my musical inspiration came from nature and solitude, not that itinerant life on the road, hopping on planes, living out of suitcases and hotels, going from one gig to another.”

This reflective, retrospective approach, drawing on The White Isle’s beautiful countryside setting, be it rural or coastal, resulted in something very unique indeed. ‘Ketuvim’ is just the beginning…”. ‘Ketuvim’ is a hypnotic, almost metaphysical statement that demonstrates just what Argy has been doing during his time in lockdown. Yet, like all the best dance music that stood the test of time, it’s cohesive and contemporary; it pulls off that deft, magic trick of making yesteryear sound like next year, and is all the better for it. Follow us on socials If you dragged the early / mid-nineties, in all their raving glory, into 2021, this is how they would sound. It’s Detroit meets Chicago meets Ibiza meets Berlin meets Rotterdam meets London meets Mansfield. Argy said: “Like many, I retreated to myself and the studio.

Tungevaag talks about his latest release “‘Young Summer” and his future plans | EDM NATIONS Interview

I told him we need to get Alan Walker onboard for this, he will like it. I think I never have found “my style”, I like several genres within the EDM category and like to release whatever keeps me excited. We had a lot of back and forth, and I continued the track in my studio, later the result was this really cool instrumental. Certain people have their roles and are better than other on something, that’s why they are a good team. If its future bounce or more pop-electronic with rap verses doesn’t matter as long as I enjoy it. If there are 5-7 songwriters and 2-3 producers on the track, it doesn’t matter for me, cause we together created something that would never been created without these people combine

5.  Finally, do you have a quick message to your fans? Thank you for your huge support, response and I love to be in contact with you. How has your music style evolved? Follow us on socials I had not done a lot of physical sessions until 2018, but for instance my track “Peru” we wrote in a session in Oslo, the engineer tracked the vocals in the same session and I finished the track in my studio. I took the tempo on the “Eurodancer” melody from 150 bpm down to 100 bpm and started to build the full arrangement. There are more excited releases than ever planned, but unfortunately, I cannot say anything more about it than it’s with much bigger artists than myself. I try to combine solo releases and collaboration. Can you tell us the driving forces behind your revival of ‘Young Summer’? Thank you! Kygo, Kshmr and Don Diablo. Before we showed it to his team: Me and Mangoo took the first flight to Oslo and had a session with Halvor Folstad and Alexander Pavelich, which I knew from before. What’s your usual process when making a record? It was Tommy LaVerdi who sent it to me. I have got in touch with people I never could get in touch with in a busy normal world. 7. We couldn’t write a good enough topline ourselves, so I brough the instrumental into another session with a vocalist and songwriters, and after totally 3 sessions, we got “Knockout”. In that way I get inspired, learn and enjoying this ride together with more than myself. That’s why I’m always trying to reply to all direct messages in Instagram, reply on all comments on all social media platforms and chat with you. Hey Tungevaag – thank you for taking your time for this interview! “Play” with Alan Walker and Mangoo, started with that DJ Mangoo asked me to help him to make a new verson of his 20 years old track “Eurodancer”. How have you kept inspired during the past year in lockdown? It’s great to have a first chat with you. Who are the legends on your bucket list to collaborate with? We four had a couple of sessions to set the ground fundament and most of the ideas of the track, topline and arrangement, before team Walker finalized it

3. I felt there was something very special from the first time I heard it, and later now, I was informed that this topline was actually a pitch to Avicii back in the days. 8. It can start in so many ways.:

It can be that I am doing some chords which vocalist can write to.A producer sends me a cool idea that I continue working.A vocalist sends me a topline that I like, and I work on an instrumental for it.We meet together in a studio and doing a session with a vocalist, producer and 1-2 songwriters. You’ve been on a roll with releases, how do you keep your productions fresh? The new single ‘Young Summer’ is a track I have been working on for more than 1.5 years It has been done over 30 different “drops” and productions. Too many producers have a big focus on that you need to do everything yourself and if you get some help on the production, “you are using a ghost producer.” Even if you credit everyone involved. I try to stay within the EDM sound and keep it “melodic” ish so that I am not all over the places. “Knockout” started with one of my co-producers Henning Olerud, in his studio, without any vocalists. 2. I am looking at this like a football team. Jesper Borgen also helped me with guitars and instruments in the track. We are in 2021. 4. I sent it to Mangoo and he loved it. 6. What do you have in store release wise and are there any other exciting projects on the horizon? I immediately thought about Alan Walker-style with shuffle bass and melody. In the end I want to make music that I like. He did the topline together with Jesper Borgen and Iselin Solheim (from Alan Walker – Faded) and I fell in love with it.

‘BACK FOR MORE’: STONEFACE & TERMINAL’S GUNDAMEA SERVE THEIR NEXT FOR EDCT !

By EDM Nations – May 5, 2021 2 0

If you don’t know her voice already, you’ll probably never guess who this singer is!”

Joined-up lyric writing, that also turns the catchy up past 11 – file ‘Back For More’ under ‘whatever-you-want-it-to-be’! Of their first vocal track, Gundamea say: “we received a demo from an acoustic singer who was interested in doing something in electronic music. Beguiling, bewitching – intoxicating even, her distinctive folk-flecked delivery will inevitably see you back for more… and more… and more. Featuring a lyrical/vocal turn from a rolling deep singer, considerably better known in non-dance-circles, it is one destined to rest inside the mind for days. This was very appealing to us and on first listen we really loved what she had done, as her song has a mystical touch without being too dark. Drop-side, ‘Back For More’ rolls out its secret-weapon, and one that nothing can quite prepare you for. In keeping with EDCT’s stylistically open-world approach, the track rests within the refreshingly indefinite node of progressive, house and trance. The hi-hats ride and the FX pops, whilst its subtle but unmistakable under-groove drives it towards a melodic insurgence. Constructed around a cool-but-clubby tempo with a simmering bass-pulse, Gundamea settles a noir-ish mood across its opening minutes. Gundamea strikes again April 30 – access all formats through the links below: Spotify // Beatport // Apple Music // Deezer // Juno //

SOLARSTONE PRESENTS ELECTRONIC ARCHITECTURE 4 !

By EDM Nations – May 4, 2021 2 0
Aside from the pulsing positive multi-colored lights that emanate from within its cube, the ‘Arthitecture’ of the fourth ‘Architecture’ is visibly more brutalist & current-day resonant than its predecessors. Not remixes, re-edits or re-imaginings exactly, they are versions that bring incredible tracks into line with the series’ sonic ethic, as Richard does everything from tweak to wholesale reconfigure them to fit.Timelessly picking up exactly where ‘EA3’ left off – whilst also giving us a highly desirable musical anchor to the last decade, the fourth epic ‘Electronic Architecture’ walks among us from May 14. Is the greatest mix-album of the year here already!? May just be… but there’s only one way to truly find out. Halfway into production, regular Solarstone collaborator Alucard announced the end of his retirement by dropping an album’s worth of material into ‘EA’s demo box – several of which found their way into its mix. Its musical remit though remains timelessly unchanged. The last twelve months have brought a step change in electronic music needs and with ‘Pure Trance’ receiving a well-earned mix-sabbatical last autumn, it’s allowed the cultural time, space and climate for something many had consigned to Solarstone legacy. Whilst never down to one factor, Pure Trance’s capturing of the scene’s zeitgeist, and the unchecked success that followed played no small part. When he found it – even in its most embryonic form, no effort was spared to cultivate it for ‘EA4’. (https://solarstone.complete.me/ea4)

Follow us on socials The new nonpareil of the kick-back-‘n-musically-trip encounter, its soundscape has few – if any – modern parallels. As ever the musical backbone of this new release is made up of creatives who’ve cut their teeth on previous Solarstone projects and new talent, freshly recruited to its ranks. Never seeing the electronica-extremes of the former, nor quite as floor-intense as the latter, their progressivism hits the perfect median between.Despite being offered as a physical item (how could something this beautiful not!), digitally ‘Electronic Architecture 4’ has been devised as a start-through-finish listening experience. Nominally a one-minute software demo from technologist Dreams Of Wires, Solarstone worked with just the briefest of melody ideas to bring Dreams his first fully realised production.Whilst on its comeback-track, ‘Electronic Architecture’ experienced more than its fair share of stars-aligning moments. Richard also stumbled across a twelve-year-old ‘lost-tape’ track from Vincent Lewis (who – fact-fans – went on to direct Solarstone’s ‘Electric Love’ video!). As well as welcoming an influx of new music through the front door, he scoured the Internet’s forum-highways & Bandcamp-byways in search of promise. Case in point, ‘Equilibrium’ – the album’s penultimate track. While ‘EAs’ 1 thru ‘3′ maintained a regular release pulse, with each year that followed 2014, the series’ absence has been felt evermore acutely. Like ‘island’ (last year’s out-of-nowhere Solarstone LP), its return though is down to something far more appreciable. In timely fashion the album also hosts new Solarstone production ‘Pale Blue Dot’, his & Orkidea’s sixth ‘Slowmotion’ and Kryder’s desk-hot remix of ‘island’s ‘When I Dream’.   Key as ever to ‘Electronic Architecture’s constitution are Solarstone’s own Reconstructions – eleven of which feature over the duration. In regard to the former, new music resounds from the likes of Lostly, Basil O’Glue, Stoneface & Terminal, Super-Frog Saves Tokyo, Forerunners, Nick Silvestri and others. Tonally & thematically, ‘EA4’ owns the equidistant middleground between the ‘Northern Exposure’ and ‘Renaissance’ albums. To its new-talent-latter meanwhile, Solarstone has gone further than ever before in uncovering it. ‘We’re Descending’ – Lostly’s stunning latest – arrived within hours of Rich needing something to further a moodier tranche, whilst opening track ‘Lament’ by Super-Frog Saves Tokyo’s landed a day after the project commenced. It’s been seven years – and some long ones at that – since Solarstone last designed and constructed an ‘Electronic Architecture’. In essence a musical time capsule dating back to ‘EA’s most embryonic times, ‘Pulse Train’ became part of the album’s opening stages.

VII Records Presents: John Askew – Dusk Till Dawn !

As well as all the killer current music I wanted to rework some of my favourite classics to include – from the likes of NU NRG, Union Jack and Paul van Dyk to give a fresh 2021 twist to those seminal classics that for me were – and always will be – the purest and most epic forms of trance.”

With Beatman & Ludmilla’s ‘The Fall’, John embraces the Dawn on a Psy note, before hitting a hot run of Askew reworkings, on music from Steve Brian, Ronski Speed, NuNRG and Milla Lahto. Whereas Dawn shows off my more melodic side as night transitions to day and the festival vibes kick off. ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ is available through all good streaming and sales platforms from April 30 and is a must for John Askew fans old and new. Pre-order/save here, now (https://vii.complete.me/dusk). From there he takes aim with a track/remix salvo from the likes of Sean Tyas, EverLight, Alex Di Stefano, Paul Denton and others. The gateway to May sees VII turn loose ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ – the label’s hotly anticipated fourth double disc music comp. Comprising thirty-six tracks, ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ is armed with ten purpose-built John Askew reworks and two brand new studio creations, all of which feature exclusively. Mixed & compiled by respected trance pioneer and VII label boss John Askew, the album provides a brilliant expo of his bilingual approach to the genre. Further you’ll find eleven previously unheard, desk-hot productions from some of John’s favourite producers, as well as a mountain of the freshest & primest from VII and its sister label Deep In Thought. Further in, Story Of Oz’s remix of Sean Tyas’s ‘Someday’, Story’s own ‘Somersault’ and John’s freshly pressed remix of PvD’s ‘Crush’ pave the way to the mix’s valedictory track, Will Atkinson’s ‘The Last Rave On Earth’. Just ahead of the album’s release, John commented: “Dusk is the music I love to hear when it gets dark and things go harder and more twisted. Bookending ‘Dusk’ is new Askew studio summoning ‘Keep Pushing’ and Will Atkinson’s ‘Pipe Dreams’, whilst the release’s meridian moment is marked with the oasis-like calm of BT & Christian Burns’ ‘Save Me’. Dispensing with the formalities, frontend of Dusk’s disc John goes right for the tech jugular with his reworks of Union Jack classic ‘Cactus’ and Will Atkinson’s ‘Awake’. Follow us on socials For lovers of true trance ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ delivers a fast-lane journey across its sonic range, going full throttle first minute though last. The Dusk disc underscores his mastery of tougher, techier sounds, whilst Dawn sheds more light on John’s love of enhanced melodies, primetime tempos and higher-power euphoria.
