Following his 2019 label change-up, those fearing a revoke for Ram Boon’s ‘Reworked & Remixed’ series can breathe easy! Big names may crop up (music from Armin, Tiësto, Markus Schulz, Oakie, Solarstone, BT & co features), but the release’s conscious bias remains rooted in genre classics of the lesser-caned variety. The place where fresh and familiar meet – ‘Reworked and Remixed’ rides again from today (https://nk.complete.me/reworked1)! LOUD LUXURY LINK UP WITH FRANK WALKER AND STEPHEN PUTH FOR MAGNIFICENT COLLAB: ‘LIKE GOLD’!

By EDM Nations – October 30, 2020 2 0

It’s safe to say that Stephen Puth is ever accelerating on his road to stardom, and this brand-new collab with Frank Walker and Loud Luxury certainly is testament to that. We hope you enjoy!”

“This is such a special song for me, as I’ve been close with Andrew & Joe (Loud Luxury) for years”, Frank Walker adds. The vocal for ‘Like Gold’ actually started when he was over at our house for a barbecue. Mediabase Dance Airplay chart for two weeks, charted in the Top 40 of U.S. We all brought our own styles of music to the table and ended up with a unique song.”

It’s been an amazing ride for university friends Andrew Fedyk and Joe De Pace, better known as Canadian duo Loud Luxury. Having written songs for artists such as The Vamps, Pretty Much, Daniel Skye, Jack & Jack and Stanaj before deciding to become an artist in his own right, Stephen Puth amassed over 30 million streams with his first two singles. To me, ‘Like Gold’ is the perfect combination of what we can both bring to the table: a mix of driving basslines, melodic breakdowns and lyrics that are both ballad-y and hooky at the same time. Touted as an iHeartRadio Future Star and a Billboard Rising Artist, the Canadian DJ and producer rapidly became a mainstay in Spotify’s Dance and Pop playlists through collabs with the likes of R3HAB, official remixes for Kygo, Marshmello, Bastille and Loud Luxury, and recent singles such as ‘Heartbreak Back’ and ‘Only When the Rains’, both of which claimed a Top 10 spot on Canadian Top 40 radio. Earlier this year, the duo scooped up three 2020 JUNO Awards nominations for ‘Dance Recording Of The Year’, ‘Fan Choice Award’ and ‘Group Of The Year’ (including one win) following four nominations (including one win) in 2019 as well as iHeart Music Awards nominations for ‘Dance Song Of The Year’ and ‘Dance Artist Of The Year’. The final touch that Stephen Puth’s singing added to song really took things next level. Frank Walker is no stranger to the highest reaches of the electronic music space. The latter, which was a collaboration with Astrid S, even earned him a nomination for ‘Dance Recording of the Year’ at the 2020 JUNO awards. With their now worldwide smash hit ‘Body’ (feat. Brando), the Toronto boys are certified Diamond (10x Platinum) in Canada, 6x Platinum in Australia, 3x Platinum in Switzerland, Double Platinum in Austria, Denmark, U.K. Bringing together where we came from and where we are today into one song was very special to us. After a few drinks, we convinced Stephen to jump into the booth and that’s how the song started. Follow us on socials Combining a suspenseful instrumental backdrop with immersive vocals that draw listeners in by the dozen, this 24-karat collab with Frank Walker and L.A.-based singer-songwriter Stephen Puth is as pure, precious and sought-after as its title implies. Jean) in March this year, ‘Like Gold’ sees them shake hands with 2020 JUNO nominated (and fellow Canadian) DJ and producer Frank Walker and American singer-songwriter Stephen Puth. We all put a special part of ourselves into this record and I think it really shows. Canadian stream machines Loud Luxury have added to their hit-packed discography with another ridiculously catchy single. and the U.S., and Platinum in the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. Morgan St. In June last year, he released ‘Look Away’ alongside brother and fellow musician Charlie Puth, earning him critical acclaim as well as a spot in the Top 40 at pop radio. Its follow-up single, ‘Love No More’ (with anders), garnered 12 million streams on Spotify alone in its first month and currently sits at 140 million plays on the streaming platform, whilst last summer’s ‘I’m Not Alright’ (with Bryce Vine) adds to the tally with well over 70 million streams. “We’ve been friends with Frank since our university days playing shows across Canada”, Loud Luxury explain. ‘Body’ also held the #1 spot in the U.S. “Collaborating with friends is always a great way to make music. Pop radio and the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart (#4) and accumulated over a billion plays across the most popular streaming services. Praised by Billboard and Ones To Watch for having a “flawless” voice as well as “creative lyrics and catchy melodies”, the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter immediately followed suit on the live front by opening for Astrid S on her Los Angeles and New York show dates as well as opening for Lizzo’s radio show in Chicago. “When we moved to Los Angeles, we met Stephen and we quickly became great friends. Following on several top-drawer singles released through their ‘Nights Like This EP’, ‘Like Gold’ marks the next dance-pop hybrid track from Loud Luxury. Everything in the track came together perfectly. Hotly anticipated since the release of their ‘Nights Like This EP’ and ‘Aftertaste’ (feat. His voice really adds a melancholic-pop feeling to the song and drives the emotion of ‘Like Gold’ home. I can’t wait for the world to hear it.”

“I’m incredibly happy to be a part of ‘Like Gold’ with Loud Luxury and Frank Walker”, Stephen Puth says. “We all started DJing at the same time in university, have played countless shows together, and have been looking for the perfect record to collab on for a long time.

Steff Da Campo & 71 Digits revamp dance classic!

By EDM Nations – October 30, 2020 2 0

It meant the breakthrough of Dutch act Hi_Tack, making international waves with ‘Say Say Say (Waiting 4 U)’, using vocal lines of Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney’s eponymous 80’s hit song. Follow us on socials Safe to say, this was a legendary record in several ways. It’s a hot ride, and a more than respectful tribute to one of Spinnin’s (and dance music in general, for that matter) milestone records. Already a classic by its original standards, Hi_Tack’s 2006 hit tune ‘Say Say Say (Waiting 4 U)’ has now received an incredible remix treatment by Dutch DJ/producer Steff Da Campo and mystery act 71 Digits. Blended with an upwinding house groove, the record turned into a club favorite in the mid zeroes, followed by massive radio support in 2006. It’s been a landmark record since its release, and with its 15th anniversary in sight, any new remix of the track should be something special. Incorporating the original’s lyrics, they add a bouncy groove, gritty bassline and upwinding percussion, turning an already unforgettable melody into a fresh 2020 guise. Well, with Steff Da Campo and 71 Digits it seems to be in the right hands. So, for both artist and label this tune is a special one. We joined forces with Steff Da Campo to get that perfect crossover between pumping club sounds and a slappy radio vibe, with respect for the original.” – 71 Digits“Nearly 15 years after its release we were looking for a real dope remix to breathe new life into our 2006 classic. Together, they’ve taken the energy and vocally driven melody of the original to create a mesmerizing, fresh piece of dance music -heavy on the bass, and ready to rock the house (again). Both are renowned for turning timeless vocal tracks into blistering dance gems, and ‘Say Say Say (Waiting 4 U)’ proves to be the perfect tune for these specialists. This also meant mainstream success for Spinnin’ Records, back then still a small, upcoming dance record company. 71 Digits and Steff Da Campo delivered a spot on remix and we are thrilled with the result and can’t wait for this belter to drop!” – Hi_Tack. We revisited this classic together and I am very happy with how it turned out!” – Steff Da Campo“It was an absolute honor to remix this classic track.

“Hi-Tack, 71 Digits and I go way back.

Innovative sounds on Marian Klose latest EP !

By EDM Nations – October 30, 2020 2 0

The drumwork is excellent, the percussion clean and punchy, holding the energy of the mix as the track progresses from section to section. A mixture of vocal loops and chops, explosive synths and mellow pads and plucks, the tune has an unique and fresh atmosphere to itself. Follow us on socials In this EDM industry, to create your own sounds represents one of the hardest things, because at this point, everybody already tested anything. His most recent example comes in the form of a brilliant tune called “The Journey”. Somehow, Marian Klose manages to always surprise me with his innovative ideas and overall sound. The transitions are smooth and the track feels very cohesive overall further enhancing the atmosphere, while at the same time, the great drums and synths ensure it has all the necessary energy to be a huge club-ready tune.

By EDM Nations – October 29, 2020 2 0

Often rubbing shoulders and playing alongside recognised artists such as Groove Armada, Crazy P and Faze Action, it was not long until Armstrong was invited to head parties at some of the biggest venues around Sydney, and most notably holding a rotating residency on the Terrace at Home Nightclub. Sumo was released on September 25th and is available on all streaming and selling platforms. Fresh with ideas and inspiration, he has been writing and testing new material at events, including his very own successful monthly night, Neutral in Shibuya. The whole Sumo EP offers a classy take on house, as each track offers something unique and alternative for any dance floor. A rather splendid alternative to round off the record, 80’s synth sounds meets Twin Peaks to create a moody send off. Beginning the record in style, namesake song Sumo immerses the listener in atmospheric and spacey melodies, topped off with acidic lines and slurred vocals that create a dreamy trip, suitable for any dance floor. Perhaps this is most notable within his brand new dynamite release, Sumo EP. A faster paced and more progressive version of the original, the second track still features the vocal aspect and retains Armstrong’s clever influences. Follow us on socials Flipping the EP on its head, the fourth and final track offers a Deep House cut from another in-demand Australian producer, Jamie Lloyd. Following the title track is a Dub Tech remix from prolific Australian producer Jamie Stevens. The third track, or second remix, invites Deeplomatic boss Alex Ferrer to the table, offering an all-house affair with groovier cuts and melodic undertones that seamlessly roll through the speakers. Becoming recognised for his talent, Armstrong began to play at venues in European hotspots such as Ibiza and this eventually lead him to start new challenges over in Tokyo. A statement track from Armstrong, as his newly found inspiration is echoed throughout. Adapting and honing his sound, Armstrong now leans towards Leftfield House and has increasingly incorporated melodic techno touches to his impressive productions. Widely renowned for infusing soundscapes and incorporating heavy underground house influences, Armstrong often adds strong techno overtones to create a unique soundtrack that follows him around the globe.

We had a chat Astro Raph about his latest release and many more topics! | EDM Nations Interview

The technology is really exciting right now. What is it about DJing, compared to, say, producing your own music, that makes it interesting for you? I love to talk about an idea! Yes! Collaborations can take on many forms. A lot of stuff is Modular Synthesis either in VCV Rack recorded into Ableton or Reaktor Blocks and I also use a bit of Voltage Modular. Fiske Planetarium in Boulder, Colorado, I think the year was 1999. Could you describe your creative process on the basis of a piece or album that’s particularly dear to you, please? I was hooked. The biggest challenge right now is probably getting people to listen to them. That’s why we invited him to a short interview and get to know him better:

When did you start DJing – and what or who were your early passions and influences? I found all my favourite sounds in these plugins just starting from scratch and playing around with synthesis mostly from nothing but the “init” patch. That was like the official Strange Attractor stamp when I added that touch, but the whole song was based on reading about the Strange Attractor and trying to make an electronic song that operated in the same way.

What are currently your main challenges as a DJ? The night was called “Chocolitarium”. I somehow managed to convince my parents to drop me off without a ticket because they refused to buy me one, and I think I just walked in. To solve this, I’ve been working on blurring the lines between producing, performing live and DJing. I created something I call “Tiny Devices Concerts” inspired of course by NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concerts”. A few years later I ended up working with Obvious World and he turned me on to a lot of music that still influences me today, especially T-Power, who also worked with Shy FX and did another project years later that influenced me as well: Chocolate Weasel. I do my best to keep up with it all! My dad’s old belt drive turntable, my dad’s old Sony CD player, a boom box with aux outs and an old radio shack mixer with a crossfader that crackled and missing knobs and faders that my friend gave me! Don’t get me wrong though, I like to throw a few Korg Volca’s in there too for some real boutique analogue flavour in the mix! I played all original tracks that night and blew people away with some genre bending tangents that didn’t seem to make sense but made perfect sense. I love pulling up a soft-synth of a classic like the Arp Odyssey or Roland System 100 or even the Korg MS-20 and seeing what sounds I can make with them, usually powered by an arpeggiator or a midi sequencer. This was Ravestock and it was the first time I heard Jungle music and it was on a huge system. What drew me in with all this was the idea that you could chop something else up and create anything was really inspiring to me. That set was definitely talked about for a long time! How would you describe your own development as an artist and the transition towards your own sound? For this I use a variety of App’s on Android and iOS and sync them together using Ableton Link. I soon started going up to the record store in the closest city and also the Best Buy looking for electronic music CD’s. So, all this is now woven into the many strange worlds of electronic sounds I currently explore. Texting when breakthrough ideas hit. I also really liked fast music and really spaced out music that took you to another world and could literally transport an entire room of people to a very harmonious state by taking them through all kinds of experiences together. I found a cool App on iOS called “Midi Link Sync” that lets you send a Midi clock to Ableton Link! A lot of it is also feeling, and if I end up applying a theme or concept to it like I did with the title song Strange Attractor, then more elements may be added to enhance that or the concept may even be the source of inspiration itself as with Strange Attractor. Tell us about one of your most memorable DJ sets. It’s all discovery and exploration, but what I discovered in these sounds is myself. THAT sound is the s*** that inspires me!”. That usually leads somewhere.  It was a combination of going “oh wow that can do that” and “that sound is me 100%! It’s the old school way of making music but with cutting edge technology that is in everybody’s pocket. I can also use DJ App’s and throw original tracks in or remix tracks live using Ninja Tune’s “Jamm Pro” (which I love very much!). I started DJing in the early 90’s when I was 12, I threw my first party for my 13th birthday party and DJ’d for the first time. My biggest influence at that time had to be a local DJ, Obvious World, who played the likes of The Shamen, Space Time Continuum, T-Power, Future Sound of London and The Irresistible Force. I’m definitely having a lot of fun as a DJ right now in my sets, exploring very strange new territory like a new take on Hi-NRG meets Warp Records. Talking on the phone about what we’re going to do (or in person if we’re lucky!). What role do they play in your approach and what are your preferred ways of engaging with other creatives through, for example, file sharing, jamming or just talking about ideas? Aside from him there were other DJ’s mostly from Europe and a few from Detroit and Chicago at that time DJing these college parties and other events. So, I’ll build parts of a track mixing these in and out with a tiny Hart Mixer (which adds a nice compression and saturation). This sound is about a certain fantasy dreamscape of ambient atmospherics, but with a passionate soul-searching melody. Follow us on socials I don’t think I had or have heard any of those tracks since at least the Y2K. Raves were still new and these older kids were coming back from raves in big cities and sharing with us what we were missing. Before that, I think the only thing I knew of that the DJ’s played was Moby’s Move and Aphex Twin’s Speed Racer. The genres just fell into each other like some playful weird thing. So, I’ll build a track using say, Funkbox on an iPhone, Remixlive on an Android, G-Stomper on a Tablet and MI Rack on an iPad. My sound has come to have a LOT of influences over the years, all the way from major artists like Kraftwerk and Jeff Mills to very talented friends that no one has heard of like ChillTown Maui and many artists in between like Paul Johnson and Doormouse. Often sending the same piece back and forth several times until it starts to feel closed to finished, and then I’ll go in and polish it. Astro Raph recently released “Axe God” on Trax Mission Records and we really loved this tune! So, for the album Strange Attractor, I really just started playing around with various synth plugins that inspire me and also Max for Live. I also tend to sync up Ableton with my hardware modular that is slowly growing and get some good loops or even a whole layer of a track. A full length on Cyborg Recordings, “Simple as They Come”, and a single on Trax Mission Records, “Axe God”. I read up on a page that described what a Strange Attractor is and how it works again and again and tried to create the song based on that. What is about music and/or sound that drew you to it? I also just released a side project on BandCamp in the genre of “Comfy Synth” called “Journey to the Moon” that I plan to also put out a limited-edition vinyl of at some point. I may have heard you have a new release out, is that true? And executing the ideas to see where they lead us in good enough time to keep the momentum going. What was your first set-up as a DJ like? When I was 14 years old though, a national rave tour came through a cornfield only 20 minutes from town. Finding ways to stay true to my original sound (you can hear it in my work as Yacob in 1998, Freakie People – Awake In The Lap Of A Dream [https://obviousworld.bandcamp.com]). I had three so far this year! The other side of this sound is the trippy audio collage, jazz inspired rhythms and I’ve also discovered my music has a dark side. The first things I actually heard at a friend’s place and was told what it was, was Orbital’s Diversions and Prodigy’s Break and Enter. I tend to be a loner by and large but that aside I also love to do collaborations when they do come together. I also used UVI’s Falcon a lot in that track and it has a Lorentz Transformation LFO! So, I got to hear some techno, a lot of house, hardcore breaks, early jungle roots, “rave” music and ambient.

FERRY CORSTEN EXPLORES HIS DEEPER SIDE WITH THE REFLECTIVE ‘OUR MOON’ FEAT. LOVLEE !

By Alex Cristian – October 24, 2020 2 0

‘Our Moon’ highlight’s Ferry Corsten’s years of experience in the studio, as he is able to coax old-school trance elements to sit seamlessly alongside newer sounds. A repeating filtered melody works well with a round bassline that bounces around and contributes to the track’s impressive groove. ‘Our Moon’, along with projects such as the UNITY fan collaboration and ambient album, have allowed Ferry to channel his innate musical creativity in new and exciting ways, and ensure he proceeds to deliver compelling new projects that keeps fans on their toes. With the timbre of Lovlee’s soothing voice, I knew where I wanted to go with the style of this track; taking it into that warm, embracing sound that triggers all those emotions of longing for summer vibes again. The single combines luscious elements with a retro flavour which provide the bed for Lovlee’s vocal prowess to shine. I held onto the song’ for a long time, waiting for a producer to come along who believed in it as much as I did. Ferry sparked an interest and blew me away with his unique, beautiful production. Lovlee commented on writing the song; “‘Our Moon’ was written & inspired by special memories that were made under the moon, with the intention to help others escape to their own memories under that same moon. Ferry opened the year with the release of his ambient album ‘As Above So Below’ under his FERR alias, an album which saw Ferry delve deeper into his love of orchestral and film music. The result is a refreshing cut that is both forward thinking whilst also staying true to his roots, and displays the evolution of an artist who has been allowed the freedom to experiment in the studio in recent months.

Follow us on socials On ‘Our Moon’, Ferry Corsten said: The lyrics on my new single ‘Our Moon’ reflects on recent months. It was a pleasure working with him and I believe he could see how special this track was going to be.”

Ferry Corsten has worked hard to utilise the extra time in the studio this year, and the resulting musical output has seen Ferry excel on every level, providing fans and new listeners alike with cutting-edge music that cements his position at the forefront of electronic music. The amalgamation of old and new culminates in a single that balances a feeling of introspection with hope, the perfect sonic representation of recent months, equally at home on the radio as it is on festival fields and club spaces. Having used this year to continue to innovate and push the boundaries with his sound, Ferry Corsten reveals his latest output, ‘Our Moon’, a strong vocal offering featuring the powerful vocals of Lovlee. That experimentation has continued throughout 2020, most recently with ‘Black Lion’, a breaks number written in collaboration with EJECA’s Trance Wax moniker. I’m excited to be sharing this one with you guys!

Stevie Appleton takes us to ‘Paradise’ !

By Alex Cristian – October 23, 2020 2 0

The label has already scored several hits, from debut release ‘Hold Me Close’ (featuring Ella Henderson) by Sam Feldt himself to his collab with VIZE on ‘Far Away From Home’ (featuring Leony) and the recent collab with The Him on ‘Use Your Love’ (featuring Goldford). On the other side, Sam Feldt does what he does best: adding his much praised production to give the tune another edge, an energy driven by sweet dance rhythms. I swear I’ve been whistling the hook of Paradise for the last 15 years; thought, ‘I need to get this song out of me somehow’ – not sure if releasing it properly has helped!”. It’s the best of both worlds, and exactly the hopeful tune we need right now.

‘Paradise’ is released on Heartfeldt Records, a new imprint under the wings of Spinnin’ Records, launched earlier this year by Sam Feldt. Known for his enticing mix of pop and dance (reaching a new milestone with his worldwide hit ‘Post Malone’ last year) the Dutch DJ/producer knows how to take a song next level. Stevie recalls “My parents loved Phil Collins so I grew up listening to him all the time. He’s already proven this with his solo debut single ‘Supposed To Do’ alongside platinum songwriting and features, including Tiësto’s ‘BLUE’, Lucas Estrada’s ‘Villa In Ibiza’ and Klingande’s ‘Sinner’. Follow us on socials Using the lyrics and melodies of Phil Collins’ 1989 hit song ‘Another Day In Paradise’, it’s turned into the perfect soundtrack for these strange, melancholic times we live in. The result is a classic song, taken to new heights by Appleton’s timeless craftsmanship, while also incorporating a contemporary, electronically driven sound. His ever inspiring attitude and soul drenched songs are the perfect remedy for any twist of fate. Stevie Appleton’s comforting voice seems to be made for the emotionally charged lyrics, providing the message with new layers of sentiment, while enhancing the beauty of the song’s melody with catchy guitar chords. You’ll be touched somehow by Appleton’s music, especially now it’s backed by Sam Feldt on the new single ‘Paradise’. Released on Sam Feldt’s burgeoning label Heartfeldt Records, the UK singer/songwriter perfectly uses his warm vocals and sweet guitar licks to rework the Phil Collins classic ‘Another Day In Paradise’, while incorporating the tender rhythms and high quality production skills of label boss Sam Feldt. Stevie Appleton has dropped his much anticipated new single ‘Paradise’ on a wave of melancholic vibes. Leave it to Stevie Appleton to reset the minds for a moment.  ‘Paradise’ does just that.
