It goes without saying that a lot of people have come to know hurt and sorrow during the global pandemic, and some have been hit more intensely than others. It was time though, time for me to speak loudly about my problems and that I did manage them, with help from my family, my friends and last but not least, you guys. Not only has his entire life changed drastically due to the effect of COVID on the music industry, but he also nearly lost his mother to an unforgiving condition that requires constant care and was hit with a surprising diabetes diagnosis after suddenly waking up in a hospital. But I have been terrible at sharing my own stuff and even writing this makes me nervous. Having no choice but to alter his way of living in order to physically function, he set about to lose weight (20 kg so far) and get in shape, resulting in both better health and better music. Orjan Nilsen: “It’s a little scary sharing like this as I’m not used to doing so. For Orjan Nilsen, these times have been particularly challenging. I guess what I’m saying is that I’m back, that I’m Ørjan again! Can you tell us the driving forces behind your revival of Madonna’s smash it?JW: I remember the original very well as a kid as my sister used to listen to Madonna a lot.Fast forward to 2019 and I hear the track in my car and the ‘light up my life’ hook just really stood out to me, so decided to put the initial idea together. So even though I’ve been at home a lot, I don’t feel I have really spent more time in the studio than usual 😊

What do you have in store release wise and are there any other exciting projects on the horizon? JW: Lots of fun releases in the pipeline, including a collab with Swedish bros ‘ManyFew’, which is something a bit different but fun! We had the opportunity to chat with Jack Wins and we didn’t missed it! How have you kept inspired during the past year in lockdown?JW: Just keep thinking of the good times ahead and reflecting that in the productions – I think ‘Light Up My Life’ is a great example of that!
