JOHN 00 FLEMING & FUENKA – CHAPTER 3: CORRUPTION !

By EDM Nations – October 3, 2021 45 0

As pretty much everyone in trancedom knows, John 00 Fleming is not adverse to the epic. John & Fuenka give the opening minutes to scene-setting ambience, as timbale percussion, chirping cicadas and ethnic harmonies initially swirl those ‘Corruption’ waters deep. In a measured fashion it then enters a five + minute run of hypnotic, progressive throb, applying layers of diving-bell-deep drums, earthmoving bass and coolly curling 303. Despite its expansive runtime, you’ll never be in any doubt that our protagonists’ have a clear endgame in mind for ‘Corruption’. There is though the epic and then there’s the EPIC, and there’s no prizes for guessing which of the two ‘Corruption’ falls into. For the track, John’s been joined by JOOF Recordings cohorts Fuenka, and collectively the UK trio have gone beyond in their mission to musically encapsulate its theme. Now for those anticipating a classic three-act trancer, well, we’ll refer you back to that previous comment on “epic”. Indeed, the track has something of its own odyssey-like ‘story-within-a-story’ to unwrap. A track you could (and will!) loop for hours, ‘Chapter 3: Corruption’ is available as of today:

Follow us on socials That’s brought into the sharpest of perspectives around the nine-minute mark, as the towering chime of its majestic leadline rips free with a power that must be heard to be believed.Again carrying bespoke hand-drawn, JOOF-commissioned artwork, ‘Corruption’s cover echoes the ‘twist’ like ambiguity that’s now been thrown into the album’s storyline. Standing 17 minutes tall, the track is the third ‘Chapter’ from John’s album-prefacing/ breadcrumb-trail-laying run of 2021 singles. Following its ‘Explorer’ introducer and the world surveying ‘The Finding’, ‘Corruption’ suggests all’s not quite as rosy as first appeared to our (presumably) inter-planetary visitor.

James Hurr and Worbey & Farrell deliver exhilarating ‘Leyenda’ and announce the album !

By EDM Nations – October 3, 2021 45 0
Steven Worbey and Kevin Farrell formed Worbey & Farrell in 2003, launching at the Royal Opera House and have performed at many prestigious concert halls and festivals including Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall, Usher Hall, Cheltenham Music Festival, Buxton International Festival, Isle of Wight Festival and received two Five Star Scotsman reviews at the Edinburgh Festival. The worlds of classical and electronic music join together as internationally renowned concert pianists Worbey & Farrell collaborate with electronic music superstar producer James Hurr on the exhilarating ‘Leyenda’. His work has received support from BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM, clocking up over 100 million Spotify streams. This emotionally charged tone will be felt throughout the album, featuring music the trio composed together from the very beginning of the pandemic, through to when things became more settled. Follow us on socials ‘Leyenda’ is the dramatic reworking of Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz’s famous work and will be the title track of the trio’s eagerly awaited debut album released on 12 November. They are regulars on radio and television including BBC Radio’s Friday Night is Music Night, BBC Radio 3’s In Tune, BBC Radio 4’s Front Row, BBC2’s The Culture Show and ITV’s This Morning. James Hurr saw the potential to use this unusual sound in an electronic dance track and it became the catalyst for their album together. Whilst ‘Leyenda’ was originally composed by Albeniz for the piano, it is more famous on the guitar and when Worbey & Farrell perform ’Leyenda’ in their live shows, they use a special technique to make the piano sound like a plucked guitar. Three artists’ interpretation of a world gone mad! His collaboration roster reads like a who’s who of pop and dance (Kylie, Todd Terry, Robbie Williams). Recent projects include Basement Jaxx, Danny Howard, Mark Knight, and Beverley Knight. His music has featured across all major labels, plus Ministry, Spinnin’, Ultra, Armada, and Toolroom. James Hurr is regarded as the go-to producer in the electronic scene, and a prolific artist/writer/producer.
